Released on February 26, 2016, Stardew Valley has been gaining more and more fans. Although it is a farming simulator, the game offers a variety of fun activities such as fishing, mining, fighting monsters, and more. Given its length and abundance of secrets and activities, new players may feel a little lost at first. Therefore, we have prepared some tips to help beginners get a good start in the enchanting world of Stardew Valley.

1. Save your energy at the beginning of the game
On your computer, the energy bar is visible in the lower-right corner of the screen. Energy is essential, especially at the beginning of the game, so it's important not to waste it on unnecessary activities. When energy reaches 0, the player becomes exhausted, walking more slowly and unable to use the fishing rod. The next day, the player wakes up with only 50% of their maximum energy.

Even if you are exhausted, you can still use your tools to make your energy negative. If their energy reaches -15, the player faints, ending the day. If you faint outside your home, the player pays 10% of their total money, with a limit of 1000 gold. But it is possible to increase your maximum energy by eating starfruit.
2. Don't be in a rush to clean your farm
Contrary to popular belief, cleaning your farm on the first day is a bad idea. As mentioned earlier, it is important to save energy. By clearing the farm early on, you will be wasting time and energy. So on the first day, just focus on clearing the area where you plan to plant.

3. Watch TV every day
Watching TV every morning is essential to thriving on your farm, where you can learn new cooking recipes, follow the weather forecast, discover your luck (something very important in the game) and learn new tips. When watching TV, you can schedule your activities for the current day and the next day.

Weather Report: The weather forecast tells you what the weather will be like the next day, making it possible to plan for the next day's activities. On rainy days, you don't need to water your crops, saving time and energy.
Fortune Teller: The seer predicts your luck, and when the spirits are happy, you will have more success finding items in the trash can, fishing, or even finding items and ladders in the mine.
The Queen of Sauce: It is only possible to watch "The Queen of Sauce" on Sundays, with reruns on Wednesdays. By watching this TV channel, the player learns a new cooking recipe that can be prepared later to recover his health and energy.
Livin' Off The Land: This channel provides advice and tips for the game. Some tips appear depending on the season the player is in.
4. The best farm for beginners
With so many incredible farms to choose from, it's natural to be undecided about which one to use, especially for those just starting out. In Stardew Valley, there are several farms, each suited to different play styles. So what would be the best option for a beginner?

All farms have their unique characteristics, and the ideal choice depends largely on your playing style, which you will discover as you progress through the journey. We recommend the "standard farm" for beginners, as it offers generous land and ample space for crops. However, if you intend to play with friends, "Farm Four Corners" may be the best choice.
5. Fish or mine on rainy days
On rainy days, there is no need to water the crops, which frees up time and energy for other activities at Pelican Village. It is recommended to fish or mine during these days. Depending on the season, fishing in the river on rainy days allows you to catch specific fish, such as catfish, which are useful for the Community.

6. Get as much gold as possible before the 13th of Spring
An extremely important tip, especially for first year, is to maximize your earnings before the 13th of spring. On the 13th of spring, the Egg Festival takes place in Pelican Village. At the festival you can buy strawberry seeds, and strawberries are excellent for making money, but you can only buy them at the festival.

Each strawberry costs 100 gold, and you need to make enough money to buy 100 strawberries or more. And when your strawberries are ready, don't sell them! You will put your strawberries in the canning jars to make jam and earn more money. You can sell potatoes and parsnips to earn money before the 13th.
7. The importance of scarecrows and sprinklers
The scarecrow is important to protect your crops, so always place scarecrows around them. If you don't put up scarecrows, you run the risk of crows eating your crops one day, so keep an eye out.

Sprinklers are a great option for watering crops and saving energy. If you have installed a sprinkler, it will water your crops every morning. The sprinkler waters four adjacent spaces, the quality sprinkler waters 8 adjacent spaces, and the iridium sprinkler waters 24 adjacent spaces every morning.
8. Donate to the community center
Donating to the community center can be a lot of work, but it will give you several interesting rewards when a set is completed. On top of that, when you complete the community center, you feel fulfilled with your achievement.

9. Help Gunther at the museum
When you obtain an artifact or jewelry, you can donate it to the museum, which can give an interesting reward. When you donate specific amounts to the museum, Gunther will reward you. If you want the sewer key, you will need 60 items donated to the museum.

10. Fish in the mountain lake
Fishing is an excellent source of income, especially for beginners. A great place to fish is the mountain lake, close to the mine and Robin's house. In this lake, you will find valuable fish that not only contribute to your income but also help you improve your fishing skill.

11. Create chests
In Stardew Valley, we will store many items, so create several chests to store these items, especially if you don't have a backpack. Never throw away or sell everything you find, even trash is worth something. Keep at least one of each item in case you need it in the future.

12. Collect everything you find on the map
Always collect and save everything you find on the map because you may need it later. Chives are important at the beginning of the game, they serve as a source of energy and can be found every day near the sewer.

It is possible to find worms on the ground from time to time, and if you find them, use the hoe on them to collect an item, artifact for Gunther or lost book for the museum library. Always keep your eyes on the ground, we never know what we will find.

13. Skills
To increase the level of skills, you must perform actions related to those skills. When you level up one of them, you unlock new craftable items.

Cultivation: Gain experience caring for crops and animals.
Mining: Gain experience by mining rocks or ores.
Gathering: Gain experience by collecting items or cutting down trees.
Fishing: Gain experience by fishing or using pits.
Combat: Gain experience by killing monsters in caves.
14. Best crops for each season
As you may already know, each season has specific crops, but many who are just starting out don't know what to plant in each season. See the best plantations for each season:
Spring: As you know, we should be able to earn as much money as possible before the 13th, and potatoes are the best choice for that. But if you can grow strawberries, that should be your priority.
Summer: During the summer, it is essential to have mason jars to store your harvests and make jams. For those with few jars, the best planting option is blueberries, while for those who have many jars, melon is the ideal choice.
Autumn: Just like in summer, the choice of plantings in autumn varies according to the number of jars available. If you have few jars, plant cranberries; If you have a lot of jars, opt for pumpkin.
Winter: Don't worry, you can't plant in winter. Focus on fishing and mining during this season.

15. Friendships
Giving gifts to the residents of Pelican Village will increase your friendship level with them. Depending on how many hearts you have with the villager, you will unlock new scenes and gain access to his room. To give someone a gift, simply select an item and interact with the person. If it's a loved gift, you'll earn points.

Extra Tip: Use female characters
If you are in the mood to earn some extra money, you can use a female character in the game. When you use a male character, your mother sends you cookies in the mail, while when using a female character, your father sends you 500 gold.

Warning: I don't have very good English, so I apologize if I made any mistakes. As I also haven't played the English version of the game, the names of some things may be wrong.
